There has been an increase in
language teaching methods as of late and the Lexical Approach has gained an
importance for linguistic competence (Schmitt, 2004; Granger, 1998). The
purpose of this study is to investigate the subcategorizational characteristics
of the verbs of two and more items listed on the website of the Turkish
Language Association. The research is designed as the Theta theory of Chomsky. Findings
show that collocational verbs include 36% of the total verb list. Those verbs
accelerate and facilitate learning Turkish.
