Pre-service Teachers’ Perceptions of their Learning Levels of the Courses in Social Studies Teacher Training Programs

Öz

The purpose of this study is to identify pre-service teachers’ perceptions of their learning levels of 66
courses offered by Higher Educational Council (YOK) to be taught in social studies teacher training programs and to
determine whether their learning levels differ on their grade level and groups of courses. This study had a survey
design. The data were collected from junior and senior pre-service social studies teachers at Faculty of Education,
Ahi Evran University. The subjects consisted of 159 students, 96 morning and 63 evening education, who voluntarily
responded to the questionnaires. 66 courses offered in the program were grouped under three categories as field and
field education, professional knowledge and general culture. The levels of learning were determined as follows: low
(1), medium (2), high (3), very high (4). The data were analyzed through the SPSS. The level of learning for each
course was measured by mean scores, and differences between groups of courses were determined by t tests. Students
were found to learn courses offered in the program at a very high level in general. Between juniors and seniors, the
most severe difference was due to the course, curriculum development. The course with the highest mean was
teaching practice while the course with the lowest mean was Ancient History and Civilization.

Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği Lisans Programındaki Derslerin Öğrenilme Düzeyleri (Öğretmen Adaylarının Öznel Algıları)

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenliği lisans programında yer alan, Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu (YÖK) tarafından belirlenen 66 dersin öğrenilme düzeylerini öğretmen adaylarının öznel algıları doğrultusunda belirlemektir. Araştırmada survey yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler, Kırşehir Eğitim Fakültesi Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalı 3. ve 4.sınıf öğretmen adaylarından toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya, ölçeğe gönüllü olarak cevap veren birinci öğretimden 96, ikinci öğretimden 63 öğretmen adayı dâhil edilmiştir. Programda yer alan 66 ders öğretmenlik yeterlilik alanlarına göre; alan ve alan eğitimi, öğretmenlik meslek bilgisi ve genel kültür destek dersleri olmak üzere 3 alt gruba ayrılmıştır. Ölçekte öğrenilme düzeyleri düşük (1), orta (2), iyi (3) ve çok iyi (4) kategorileri ile belirlenmiştir. Veriler SPSS paket programından yararlanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Her bir dersin öğrenilme düzeylerine aritmetik ortalama ile, ders grupları arasında öğrenilme düzeyleri açısından anlamlı farkın olup olmadığına ise t testi ile bakılmıştır. Programda yer alan dersleri genel olarak öğretmen adayları iyi düzeyde öğrenmişlerdir. 3 ile 4. sınıflar arasında en ciddi farkın olduğu ders program geliştirme dersidir. En yüksek ortalamaya sahip olan ders öğretmenlik uygulaması olup, en düşük ortalamaya sahip olan ders ise Eskiçağ Tarihi ve Uygarlığı dersidir.
