Barriers on Reverse Logistics Activities in the Plastic Industry: Case Study of Mersin

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify, in order of significance, the barriers encountered by firms holding licenses for the collection and separation and recycling of plastics packaging waste. Additionally, it aims to propose solutions for eliminating or mitigating these barriers. In this context, the criteria defined as barriers to the collection, separation, and recycling of plastic packaging waste were evaluated by two experts working at a licensed packaging waste collection, separation, and recycling firm operating in the province of Mersin. These criteria were classified under five main domains: economic and market barriers, information and awareness barriers, policy and legislation barriers, management barriers, and technological and infrastructural barriers. The analysis was conducted using the AHP method. Results of the analysis show that the most significant primary criteria were identified as policy and legislation barriers and the most critical sub-criteria being the lack of laws and regulations.

Plastik Sektöründe Tersine Lojistik Faaliyetlerinin Önündeki Engeller: Mersin İli Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı ambalaj atığı toplama ve ayırma lisansına ve geri dönüşüm lisansına sahip firmaların karşılaştığı engelleri önem sırasına göre ortaya koymak ve bu engellerin nasıl azaltılacağına ya da ortadan kaldırılacağına dair önerilerde bulunmaktır. Bu doğrultuda plastik ambalaj atıklarının toplanması ve ayrılmasının ve geri dönüştürülmesinin önündeki engeller olarak belirlenen kriterler, Mersin ilinde faaliyet gösteren ambalaj atığı toplama ve ayırma ve geri dönüştürme lisansına sahip bir firmada çalışan iki uzman tarafından değerlendirilmiştir. Kriterler 5 ana kriter altında sınıflandırılmıştır: Ekonomi ve pazar engelleri, bilgi ve farkındalık engelleri, politika ve mevzuat engelleri, yönetim engelleri ve teknoloji ve altyapı engelleri. Kriterler AHS yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre en önemli ana kriter politika ve mevzuat engelleridir ve en önemli alt kriter kanun ve düzenleme eksikliğidir.
