Abstract

Sialorrhea is defined as excessive saliva secretion and flowing from the corner of the mouth. Correct identification of the underlying cause is important for the treatment of this condition, which can lead to many physical and psychosocial complications and significantly reduces the person's quality of life. Many factors are involved in its etiology, and it may also appear as a side effect due to drug use in the clinic. Although clozapine is the drug most associated with sialorrhea among the drugs used in psychiatry, there are publications indicating that sialorrhea may also occur due to many other psychotropic drugs. Therefore, drug side effects should also be considered in the etiology of sialorrhea in people using psychotropic drugs. In this article, it is aimed to contribute to the existing literature by discussing sialorrhea due to risperidone use in a 59-year-old female patient followed up with a diagnosis of non-organic psychosis, in the light of literature findings.

Risperidon Kullanımına Bağlı Gelişen Doz Bağımlı Siyalore: Bir Olgu Sunumu
