Ethical Principals

The following ethical duties and responsibilities for authors, editors and referees have been prepared by taking into account the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access.

All articles submitted to İLSAM ACADEMY must be original, unpublished and not in the evaluation process in another journal. Each article is double-blinded by one of the editors and at least two referees. Plagiarism, duplication, pseudo-authorship/ denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, sliced publication, copyright infringement and concealment of conflict of interest are considered unethical behaviours.
All articles that do not comply with accepted ethical standards are removed from publication. This includes articles containing possible irregularities and non-conformities detected after publication.

İLSAM ACADEMY takes care to keep the identities of both authors and referees hidden due to the principle of confidentiality. It accepts the works submitted to the journal as the private property of the authors. It pays attention to author and referee confidentiality in all processes of the study. The author's name is deleted from the article files sent to the referees for review. The referee information, if any, is deleted in the studies that the referee requests correction.

- Articles submitted for publication are also confirmed that the articles have not been published before and do not contain plagiarism through a special programme used in plagiarism detection.

- iThenticate - and Turnitin -Plagiarism Prevention Programmes are used to detect plagiarism in academic studies.

- Research participants should take part in the research voluntarily and should not be under any coercion.
- Harm to the participants should be avoided. The research should be planned in a way that does not put the participants at risk.
- Research independence should be clear and explicit; if there is a conflict of interest, it should be stated.
- In experimental studies, the written informed consent of the participants who decide to participate in the research must be obtained. The consent of the legal guardian of children and those under guardianship or those with a recognised mental illness must be obtained.
- If the study will be carried out in any institution or organisation, approval must be obtained from this institution or organisation that the study will be conducted.

- In studies with a human element, it should be stated in the "method" section that "informed consent" was obtained from the participants and ethics committee approval was obtained from the institution where the study was conducted.

Ethical Guidelines for Referees

Researches that pass the editorial evaluation in our journal are subjected to the review of referees who are experts in their fields within the scope of double blind refereeing. The referee is obliged to take into account the "Referee Evaluation Criteria" in the evaluation process from the moment he/she is assigned through the system and accepts the task.

If the referee cannot review the article for any reason, he/she should immediately inform the editor.

Referees should act with the awareness that they are the main determinant of the academic quality of the article to be published in the journal and should evaluate with the responsibility of increasing academic quality. Accordingly, it indicates the completion of other articles, artefacts, sources, citations, rules and similar deficiencies related to the article. Reviewers should identify relevant published works that are not cited by the authors.

Reviewers should have no conflicts of interest with the authors and/or financial supporters of the research and should make an impartial judgement at the end of their evaluation.

Reviewers should be objective in their decision to publish the research they review. Comments on the manuscript proposal should be made impartially and suggestions should be made in a way that the authors can use to improve the manuscript. They should not make personal criticisms against the authors.

Reviewers should avoid superficial and vague statements in their evaluation reports. In evaluations with negative results, the deficient and defective issues on which the result is based should be shown concretely.

Reviewers should ensure that all information about submitted manuscripts is kept confidential and should report to the editor if they notice any copyright infringement or plagiarism on the part of the author.

If the referee does not feel qualified to review the manuscript or is unlikely to be able to provide timely feedback, he/she should inform the editor and ask him/her not to involve him/herself in the review process.
During the review process, the editor should make it clear to reviewers that manuscripts submitted for review are the private property of the authors and that this is a privileged communication.

Reviewers and editorial board members may not discuss manuscripts with other individuals.

Reviewers should also take care to maintain their anonymity.

In some cases, with the decision of the editor, the comments of the relevant referees on the article can be sent to other referees who commented on the same article to enlighten the referees in this process.

Reviewers should only evaluate the accuracy of the content of the articles and their conformity to academic criteria.

In case of any conflict of interest and assignment outside the field of expertise during the referee evaluation process, it is recommended to present the situation to the Editor and, if necessary, to withdraw from refereeing.

Reviewers are not paid any fee for review/evaluation procedures.

Ethical Guidelines for Authors

It is the responsibility of the author to ensure that the article submitted to İLSAM ACADEMY contributes to academic fields and complies with scientific and ethical rules.

The author should pay attention that his/her work is original and based on research.

It is assumed that the authors submitting articles to the journal have read and accepted the publication and writing principles of İLSAM AKADEMİ and the authors are deemed to have committed to what is expected of them in these principles.

Citations and references should be in complete form.

Authors should take into account the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics, which is also stated by the Council of Higher Education.

The author should assure that the article is original, has not been previously published elsewhere, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, in another language.

Although plagiarism will be screened by the journal, the consequences of plagiarism, which is academic dishonour, will be directed entirely at the author.

Applicable copyright laws and treaties should be observed. Copyrighted material (e.g. tables, figures or large quotations) should be used with due acknowledgement and permission. The work of other authors, contributors, or sources cited should be used appropriately and acknowledged in the references.

All authors must have made a direct academic and scientific contribution to the submitted manuscript; in this context, an "author" is considered to be someone who has made a significant contribution to the conceptualisation and design of the published research, to the acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data, and to the writing or critical revision of the manuscript for content. Other conditions for being an author are planning or executing and/or revising the work in the article. Funding, data collection or general supervision of the research group alone does not confer authorship. All individuals nominated as authors must fulfil all the criteria listed above, and any individual who fulfils the above criteria can be nominated as an author.

It should be ensured that the other authors whose names will be written in the article contribute to the research. It is against the ethics of science to show people who have no academic contribution as additional authors or to rank authors with unscientific criteria such as title, age and gender, regardless of the order of contribution. The order of authors' names should be a mutual decision.

All authors must indicate the author ranking on the Copyright Agreement Form.

All individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship but have contributed to the study should be listed in the "acknowledgements/information" section. Examples of these are those who provided only technical support, helped with writing, or provided only general support, financial and material support.

All authors should declare any financial relationships, conflicts of interest and competition of interest that have the potential to influence the results of the research or the scientific evaluation. If an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her published manuscript, he/she has the responsibility to immediately contact and co-operate with the editor for correction or retraction.

Ethical Guidelines for the Editor

ILSAM ACADEMY Editors evaluate articles independently of the ethnic origin, gender, nationality, religious beliefs and political philosophy of the authors.

Editors should not be in any conflict of interest/relationship with the accepted or rejected articles.

The editor should not allow conflicts of interest between authors, editors and referees.

It is the duty of the editors to complete the preliminary review, refereeing, editing and publishing processes of the articles submitted to the journal in a timely and healthy manner.

Editors should make the necessary efforts to scan the articles submitted for publication for plagiarism and thus prevent academic dishonour.
