The Instrumental Role of Leader-Members Exchange in The Effect of Service Leadership on Emotional Commıtment: A Research on Rubber and Plastıc Products Manufacturing Sector Employees

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the mediating role of leader-member interaction in the effect of servant leadership on affective commitment. In this context, 208 employees in enterprises manufacturing rubber and plastic products operating in Karaman province were selected as a sample in the study, and data were collected from the relevant sample by face-to-face survey technique. Servant leadership scale (7 questions), emotional commitment scale (6 questions), and leader-member interaction scale (7 questions) were used as data collection tools in the study. The data collected from the relevant sample were analyzed by the Smart PLS 3 (PLS-SEM) program. According to the results of the analysis, servant leadership positively affects the leader-member interaction. In addition, leader-member interaction positively affects emotional commitment. Finally, the partial mediation effect of leader-member interaction was determined in the effect of servant leadership on affective commitment.

Hizmetkâr Liderliğin Duygusal Bağlılık Üzerindeki Etkisinde Lider-Üye Etkileşiminin Aracı Rolü: Kauçuk ve Plastik Ürünlerin İmalatı Sektörü Çalışanları Üzerinde Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı hizmetkâr liderliğin (HL) duygusal bağlılığa (DB) etkisinde lider-üye etkileşiminin (LÜE) aracılık rolünü tespit etmektir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada örneklem olarak Karaman’da faaliyet gösteren kauçuk ve plastik ürünleri üreten işletmelerdeki 208 çalışan seçilmiş, ilgili örneklemden yüz yüze anket tekniği ile veriler toplanmıştır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak, hizmetkâr liderlik ölçeği (7 soru), duygusal bağlılık ölçeği (6 soru) ve lider-üye etkileşimi ölçeği (7 soru) kullanılmıştır. İlgili örneklemden toplanan veriler, Smart PLS 3 (PLS-SEM) programı vasıtasıyla analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre hizmetkâr liderlik, lider-üye etkileşimini pozitif yönde etkilemektedir. Buna ek olarak lider-üye etkileşimi, duygusal bağlılığı pozitif yönde etkilemektedir. Son olarak hizmetkâr liderliğin, duygusal bağlılığa etkisinde lider-üye etkileşiminin kısmi aracılık etkisi bulgulanmıştır.
