Öz

The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the Red Sea’s geopolitical
significance, tracing its historical role from the Ptolemaic and Roman eras to
European colonialism and the modern globalized order. It explores the region’s
strategic importance due to its proximity to oil-rich Middle Eastern states and the
Horn of Africa, shaping security, trade, and military dynamics. The authors
highlight how shifting power balances and evolving global interests have
transformed the Red Sea into a key hub for international politics. Examining the
Rimland theory of Spykman, the study underscores the region’s critical role in
global maritime trade, especially following the events of October 7, 2023.

Orta Doğu’daki petrol zengini ülkeler ve Afrika Boynuzu’na olan yakınlığı nedeniyle bölgenin stratejik önemi, güvenlik, ticaret ve askeri dinamikleri şekillendirmektedir. Yazarlar, değişen güç dengeleri ve evrilen küresel çıkarların Kızıldeniz’i uluslararası politikanın kilit merkezlerinden biri haline getirdiğini vurgulamaktadır. Spykman’ın Rimland teorisini inceleyen çalışma, özellikle 7 Ekim 2023’te yaşanan olayların ardından bölgenin küresel deniz ticaretindeki kritik rolünü öne çıkarmaktadır.
