Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, rekreatif bir aktivite olarak kitap okuma etkinliğine katılan ergenlerin okula bağlanma düzeylerinin incelenmesidir.
Yöntem: Araştırmanın ulaşılabilir evrenini, İstanbul İli Küçükçekmece İlçesi’nde spor okullarına katılan 10-14 yaş aralığındaki öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise basit tesadüfü olmayan yöntemle seçilmiş (n=142) gönüllü katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem seçiminde seçkisiz olmayan örneklem seçim yöntemlerinden kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Çalışma verilerinin normal dağılım gösterip göstermediğini belirlemek adına normallik testi yapılmış ve normal dağılım göstermemesi nedeniyle istatistiksel analiz olarak non-parametrik testlerden yararlanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda çalışmada Mann Whitney-U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre yaş değişkeni açısından anlamlı bir farklılığa rastlanırken, cinsiyet ve haftalık kitap okuma saati değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılaşmaya rastlanmamıştır.
Sonuç: Sonuç olarak, bu araştırma kapsamında serbest zamanlarını okul bahçesinde geçiren öğrencilerin çevreye karşı ilgileri ve yaş değişkenleri arasında bir bağlantı olmamakla birlikte, kızların daha ilgili oldukları ve bu durumun hangi sınıf düzeyinde olursa olsun farklılık göstermediği sonucuna varılmıştır.

INVESTIGATION OF SCHOOL ATTACHMENT LEVELS OF ADOLESCENTS PARTICIPATING IN BOOK READING AS A RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the school attachment levels of adolescents who participate in book reading as a recreational activity.
Method: The accessible population of the study consists of students between the ages of 10-14 who attend sports schools in Küçükçekmece District of Istanbul Province. The sample of the study consists of (n=142) volunteer participants selected by simple non-random method. In sample selection, easily accessible case sampling technique, which is one of the non-random sampling selection methods, was utilized.
Findings: A normality test was performed to determine whether the study data were normally distributed and non-parametric tests were used as statistical analysis since the data did not show a normal distribution. In this context, Mann Whitney-U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used. According to the findings, while a significant difference was found in terms of age, no significant difference was found in terms of gender and weekly reading hours.
Conclusion: As a result, although there is no correlation between the interest of students who spend their free time in the school garden and their age variables, it is concluded that girls are more interested in the environment and this situation does not differ regardless of the grade level.
