Abstract

The idea of recording information about all cancer cases in identified populations dates back to the first half of the twentieth century. In the last 20 years, the role of registries has expanded further to encompass the planning, evaluation, and epidemiology of cancer control activities and the individual care of cancer patients. Cancer control aims to reduce cancer incidence, morbidity and mortality through the systematic implementation of evidence-based interventions in prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and palliative care and to improve the quality of life of cancer patients. At this point, a cancer surveillance program based around a community-based cancer registry center within the framework of a national and international cancer control program has a very important role. For this reason, hospital-based cancer registry systems, tumor pathology-based cancer registry systems, and community-based cancer registry systems created by collecting the information there play an important role in the creation of cancer control plans and monitoring their success.

Kanser Kaydının Önemi ve Kanser Kontrolündeki Yeri
