The aim of this study is to determine mathematics anxiety levels of prospective primary school teachers and prospective primary mathematics teachers and whether their mathematics anxiety differs according to some variables by assessing the mathematics anxiety from different aspects. The data of this study have been gathered by Mathematics Anxiety Scale (MAS). The study has been conducted with 328 prospective teachers who are studying at the department of primary school education and the department of primary mathematics education in a university. When the data have been analyzed, it has been found that their mathematics anxiety is generally at a low level. When the mathematics anxiety has been assessed from different aspects, however, it has been found that prospective teachers’ anxiety levels of arithmetical computation, mathematical self-adequacy and mathematical interpretation anxiety are at a medium level while the other anxiety levels are at a low level. Furthermore, it has been determined that there is no significant difference of their anxiety according to department of them, second-year prospective teachers have higher mathematics anxiety compared to fourth-years and female prospective teachers have more mathematics anxiety than males.
