Rock structures under a certain pressure like tunnels, pillars and open pit walls
.may fail with time due to creep effect. For the engineer, it is of great importance to
determine the exact time of failure of this structure.
By studying the results taken from the submerged gypsum (CaS04
. 2H2O)
specimens subjected to long term creep testing in laboratory, an equation to be used
in forecasting the failure time has been obtained.
The equation has been developed such a way that it can be solved, graphically
using only three experimental readings. The possibilities of application of the developed
prediction procedure to various full scale structures have been briefly stated.

Tünel, topuk ve açtk ocak basamakları gibi kayasal yapılar yük altında yorulma
(creep) olayı etkisinde kalıp zamanla yenilebilirler. Bu yenilme olayı zamanının
tam olarak saptanması mühendis için büyük önem taşır.
Laboratuvarda uzun dönem yorulma deneyi uygulanan maden suyu içersindeki
jips (CaS04
. 2H20) örneklerinden alınan sonuçlar incelenerek yenilme zamanının
saptanmasında kullanılabilecek bir eşitlik elde edilmiştir. Eşitlik üç deneysel veri
ile ve grafiksel olarak çözülebilecek şekilde genişletilmiştir. Oda topukla çalışılan
bu jips madenindeki uygulamadan ve diğer yapılarda uygulama olanaklarından kı
saca söz edilmiştir.
