Health technology assessment (HTA) supports an effective, efficient and sustainable health system with scientific evidence by effectively and efficiently institutionalizing evidence-based decision-making mechanisms for health policies and planning. The aim of this study is to present the bibliometric characteristics of scientific studies on health technology evaluation and a general picture and map of this field. In this context, the studies that constitute the data set of the research were obtained from the Scopus database. Bibliometric analysis was carried out using the R 4.0.3 package program. According to the literature search strategy, 4,223 articles were included in the analysis. It has been determined that the first article on STD was published in 1978. The journal that published the most articles on HTA was determined to be the International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care. It has been determined that the country where scientific studies on STD are most cited is England. With the establishment of NICE in England, the number of publications began to increase. It was determined that the author with the most research articles in the field of HTA and the author with the highest h, g and m index was Drummond M.. In publications in the field of HTA, 74.21% of the authors (16,360 authors) contributed to one article, 158.14% contributed to two articles, and 10.65% contributed to three or more articles. It has been determined that the institution that does the most work in the field of HTA is the University of York. When the countries of origin of authors in the field of HTA were examined, it was determined that the most cited authors were of British origin. More scientific research should be conducted and supported to develop the HTA system, which is one of the important tools that will contribute to the goal of a sustainable health system.
