Öz
Yayın illüstrasyonları günümüzde basılı ve dijital yayınlarda metnin içeriğiyle ilişkili görsel hikâye anlatıcısıdır. Görsel hikâye anlatımı çoklu sahnelerin dışında tek bir görselle hikâyeyi etkili bir biçimde anlatabilmektedir. Yayın illüstrasyonlarında görsel hikâye anlatımı yöntemi okuyucuların metni daha hızlı ve rahat algılamalarını sağlayarak içeriğe odaklanmalarına destek olmaktadır. Bu anlamda yayın illüstrasyonları, metnin yanında konumlandırılan ayrı bir yapı olarak değil, içerikle bir bütün olarak değerlendirilmelidir. Bu bütünlük içerisinde yayın illüstrasyonlarının, yapıya görsel estetik katmanın ötesinde işlevleri vardır. İçerikteki bilgi, düşünce veya duyguları okuyucuya aktarma, benimsetme ve hissettirme amacını taşırlar. Böylece metin okuyucuyla daha fazla etkileşime geçebilmektedir. Günümüzde basılı olan yayınların çoğu dijital ortamda da yerini almakta, kimi yayınlar ise sadece dijital olarak yayın hayatına devam etmektedir. İnsanlar, gazete, dergi ve kitapları, kullanımı giderek yaygınlaşan ve geniş imkânlar sunan bilgisayar, tablet ve telefon gibi cihazlarla dijital platformlardan okumayı tercih etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı basılı ve dijital yayın illüstrasyonları ile görsel hikâye anlatımının bağını araştırmak, örnekler üzerinden incelemektir. Bu bağlamda günümüzün önemli basılı ve dijital yayınları arasında yer alan dergi ve gazetelerdeki illüstrasyonlar incelenmiştir. Yapılan araştırma ve incelemelerde edinilen bilgiler ışığında gerçek bir haber içeriği ele alınarak görsel hikâye anlatımı yöntemiyle yeni bir yayın illüstrasyonu serisi tasarlanmıştır.

Öz
Nowadays editorial illustrations are visual storytellers associated with the content of the text in printed and digital publications. Visual storytelling can effectively tell the story with a single image, apart from multiple scenes. The visual storytelling method in editorial illustrations helps readers to perceive the text more quickly and comfortably and to focus on the content. In this sense, publication illustrations should be considered as a whole with the content, not as a separate structure positioned next to the text. Within this integrity, editorial illustrations have functions beyond adding visual aesthetics to the structure. They aim to convey, adopt and make the reader feel the information, thoughts or emotions in the content. In this way, the text can interact more with the reader. Nowadays, most of the printed publications take their place in the digital environment, while some publications continue their publishing life only digitally. People prefer to read newspapers, magazines and books on digital platforms with devices such as computers, tablets and phones, which are becoming increasingly widespread and offer a wide range of opportunities. The aim of this study is to investigate the connection between printed and digital publication illustrations and visual storytelling and to explore it through examples. In this context, illustrations in magazines and newspapers, which are among today's important printed and digital publications, were analyzed. In the light of the information obtained from the research and
examinations, a new series of publication illustrations was designed with the visual storytelling method by taking a real news content.
