Code of Ethics

In the scope of our publication ethics, Journal of Values Education expect from all its partners to comply with the ethical responsibilities:

Author Responsibilities

  • The author who submits his/her work for publication bears the responsibility to meet academic and scientific qualifications.

  • The author must declare that all data presented in his/her article are original.

  • The full list of references and citations should be stated 

  • Although the plagiarism check will be done by the journal, the author will be held responsible for the plagiarized content and its consequences.

  • submitted article to our journal should not be under review in any other journals.

  • It should be ensured that all the names of authors who contributed to the research are stated. To sate names without any contribution with unscientific criteria such as title, age and gender regardless the contribution order is contrary to the scientific ethics.

  • It is assumed that the authors who submitted their articles to the journal read and accept the ethical rules, publication and writing principles of the journal.

  • The authors should take into account the guidelines of Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive set by the Turkish Higher Education Council.

Responsibilities of the Referee

  • The referees should be aware that they are ultimately responsible for the evaluation of the articles and also responsible from enhancing the quality of the scientific papers.

  • The referees must accept the articles they evaluate only when have the expertises necessary to make an appropriate assessment for the given article.

  • Through the review process, any information on the article reviewed should not be shared with others in any way.

  • The referees should only assess the accuracy of the content of the articles with their compliance with the academic criteria. Opinions put forward in the articles that happen to be different from those of the referee should not affect the assessment.

  • Referee reports should be objective and careful. Insulting, condescending and accusatory statements should be avoided.

  • The referees should avoid superficial and vague statements in the evaluation reports. In the case of negative evaluations, the missing and defective issues on which the result is based on should be explained in a concrete manner.

  • The referees should evaluate the articles within the time allowed. If not, they should report to the journal within a reasonable time.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Articles contribute to the relevant areas specified in the journal policy should be accepted to the process of evaluation by the editors.

  • Editors should prioritize academic concern and criteria when accepting articles in the journal.

  • Editors have all responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.

  • Editors should not be involved personal benefit or conflict relationship with the authors of the article he / she has accepted or rejected.

  • When errors are found, editors should support the process of publication or declinations of the correction to be made.

  • Editors should make the necessary effort to prevent false/plagiarized data.

  • It is the responsibility of the editors to keep the names of the referees and authors mutually confidential.

  • In terms of referee selection, referees should not be among who have previously published a joint work with contributor authors or who helped in their preliminary readings, also referees who had previously been known to have problems with authors or the ones who would benefit from the publication of submitted papers. Moreover, referees who are working in the same institution/department with authors should not be selected for refereeing.


When readers notice a serious error or mistake in any article published in the Journal of Values Education or if they have any complaint about the editorial content (plagiarism, recurring articles, etc.), they can send an e-mail to to inform us about the issues they have detected.
