The Faculty of Letters, which was first established with the Faculty of Science in 1991 and later separated from it on 30 June, 2010, has a 25-year academic background when taking the foundations of the departments within the faculty into consideration, even though it is a young faculty. Comprising 12 departments, including the departments of American Culture and Literature, Archeology, Linguistics, Philosophy, Comparative Literature, Translation and Interpreting, Museology, Psychology, Russian Language and Literature, Sociology, History and Turkish Language and Literature, the Faculty of Letters is aware of the importance of academic publishing in transforming the traditions and continuity developed over the years into permanent values. Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Humanities, which has been published since 2012 on a regular basis, aims to publish research articles on a variety of topics encompassing multiple disciplines within human sciences.

Understanding and explaining the people’s environments correctly is only possible with the light of scientific thought. In our country, in which community and human sciences are gaining importance, the task of Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Humanities is to accelerate the number of works produced within this field, to encourage qualified researches and to lead new synergies in higher education. As a requirement of the age in which we live, information is the most valuable heritage that we can pass on to future generations. As information networks continue to develop, our task is to capture the intellectual rhythm of the age and to give academic publishing the value it deserves.

Hoping to discover new articles and new worlds through the power of writing,
