Within the scope of this study, a three-dimensional (3D) numerical model was created using the data of an article in the literature for an embankment constructed on a soft soil improved with deep mixing columns in Thailand. The numerical model created was first verified using the data in the article. Then, a parametric study was carried out on this model. In this context, models with different area replacement ratios were created and analyses were made. For columns of different diameters with the same area replacement ratio, settlements under different embankment loads and stresses on the columns and the soil were investigated. Analyses were also carried out to evaluate the effect of the different elasticity modulus values for DSM columns. It was seen that the vertical displacement values in the system decreased with the increase in the area replacement ratio and the vertical displacements with the same area replacement ratio gave similar results. Vertical stresses on the columns increased significantly with the increase of the embankment load. It was observed that smaller displacement occurred with the increase in the elasticity modulus values of the deep mixing columns. Since the modulus values assigned for DSM columns affected the settlement values, evaluations and recommendations were made. CR - Arulrajah, A., Abdullah, A., Bo, M. W. & Bouazza, A. (2009).
