AB  - Bu araştırmada, ARCS Motivasyon Modeli’nin öğrencilerin matematiğe yönelik  motivasyonlarına etkisi araştırılmıştır. Bunun için bu öğretim yaklaşımı, 2001-2002  eğitim-öğretim yılında Ankara il merkezindeki bir ilköğretim okulunda okuyan 7. sınıf  öğrencilerine uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada, deney grubuna ARCS Motivasyon Modeli,  kontrol grubuna ise geleneksel matematik öğretim yöntemleri 4 hafta süreyle  uygulanmıştır. Motivasyon testi, öntest ve sontest olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın  hipotezini test etmek için bağımsız t-testi kullanılmıştır. Son test sonuçları, deney ve  kontrol grupları arasında matematiğe yönelik motivasyonları bakımından anlamlı bir  farklılığın olmadığını göstermektedir.

N2  - In this research, the effect of the ARCS Motivation Model upon the students’  motivation towards mathematics was investigated. Therefore, ARCS Motivation Model  was applied to 7th grade students at a middle school in Ankara at 2001-2002 terms. In  research, experimental group studied ARCS Motivation Model, on the other hand the  control group received traditionally designed mathematics instruction over 4 weeks.  Motivation test was developed and used as a pre and post test. Independent-samples ttest  was used for testing the hypothesis of the research. Post test results showed that  experimental group and the control group did not differ significantly on motivation  towards mathematics.
