This study aimed to investigate the assessment and documentation methods used by early childhood education teachers in Türkiye and the United States. A total of 24 teachers from both Reggio Emilia-inspired preschools and university-affiliated preschools participated in the study. Data were collected by means of both interview and survey. As a result, it was found that observation, portfolio, and developmental assessment reports were commonly practiced assessment methodologies within each country. In contrast, rating scale, rubric, and audio-video recording were found to be the least frequently used ones. Additionally, in both countries, it was determined that all teachers utilized documentation methods including photos and anecdotal notes as well as commonly created daily and weekly news, monthly newsletters, and/or wall documentations.
