AB  - Bu araştırmanın amacı, program alanı tarihinden dikkat çekici bir program geliştirme projesi olan İnsanoğlunun Gelişimi’ni analiz etmek ve bu projeden program kuramı açısından ne tür dersler çıkarabileceğini incelemektir. Araştırmada geçmişte yaşanmış ve böylece geçmişi etkilemiş, mevcut durumu etkileyen ve geleceği de etkileme olasılığı bulunan meselelerin incelenmesine olanak tanıyan tarihsel araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma amacına ulaşmak için İnGel ile ilişkili birincil ve ikincil kaynaklara ulaşılarak bu kaynaklar analiz kapsamına alınmıştır. Gerçekleştirilen analizler sonucunda ulaşılan bulgulara göre Bruner’in öğrenme ve öğretme yaklaşımlarını temele alan İnGel’in araştırmaya dayalı öğrenme anlayışına göre hazırlandığı, programın sarmal bir yapıyla tasarlandığı ve oldukça geniş bir materyal bütününü içerdiği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca programın bilgiyi öğrencilere aktarılması gereken bir öge olarak görmediği, bilginin öğrencilerin etkin katılımıyla zihinlerinden oluşturulması gerektiğini savunduğu bulunmuştur. Öğrenme açısından liberal bir karakter taşıyan programın tutucu değerlerdense ilerlemeci değerleri öncelediği belirlenmiştir. Programın öne çıkardığı ilerlemeci bakış açısı ve değerler nedeni, medya organlarının ve siyasilerin de etkisiyle kamuoyunda büyük bir tepki çektiği ve bunun sonucunda da programın iptal edildiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. İnGel örneğinin program alanı uzmanı olmayanların medya ve benzeri araçlarla programları etkileme gücü olmasının alanın en büyük ikilemi olduğu tartışılmıştır. İnGel gibi ilerlemeci örneklerin iyileştirilmek yerine yok edilmesinin ise rasyonel bir topluma ulaşma ülküsüne zarar vereceği savunulmuştur.

N2  - The primary purpose of this study was to provide an analysis of Man: A Course of Study (MACOS), a remarkable curriculum development project from the history of the curriculum field, and to examine what kind of lessons can be learned from this project in terms of curriculum theory. The research utilized historical research model. In order to achieve the research purpose, primary and secondary sources related to MACOS were identified and included in the analysis. Findings indicated that MACOS was prepared according to the research-based learning approach, that the curriculum was designed to be a spiral one, and that it included a wide range of materials. In addition, the curriculum does not treat knowledge as an element that should be transferred to students. As a liberal curriculum, MACOS prioritizes progressive values rather than conservative ones. Needless to say, the progressive perspective and values promoted by the curriculum caused a great reaction in the public opinion. The study concluded that the biggest dilemma of the curriculum field is the power of non-specialists to influence curricula through media and similar tools. In addition, the study argues that destroying progressive examples such as MACOS would harm the ideal of achieving a rational society.
