Tüm toplumların fiziksel görünüme, çekicilik, güzel ve yakışıklı olmaya verdikleri önem, hoş ve beğenilir olma arzusu nedeniyle insanlar daha sıklıkla estetik ameliyatlara yönelmektedirler. Bu araştırma, plastik ve rekonstrüktif cerrahi kliniğinde yatan hastaların ameliyat öncesi vücut algısını değerlendirmek amacıyla tanımlayıcı nitelikte yapılmıştır. Araştırma Gazi Üniversitesi Hastanesi Plastik ve Rekonstrüktif Cerrahi servisinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın Örneklemine 200 hasta alınmıştır. Veriler anket formu ve Beden Algısı Ölçeği aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan hastaların % 42.5’i 15-24 yaş grubunda, % 70’i kadın, % 61’i lise ve üzeri öğrenimli, % 70’inin geliri giderlerini karşılamakta, % 50’sine estetik amaçlı ameliyat yapılmıştır. Estetik ve rekonstrüktif amaçlı tedavi için başvuran hastaların beden algısı ortalama puanları sırasıyla 92.01 ± 16.9; 80.18 ± 23.9’dur (p KW - Beden algısı KW - estetik KW - rekonstrüktif cerrahi N2 - Body image of the persons change throughout their lifetime, incidence of body image disorders increase continuously. As all the societies attach more importance on physical appearance, attractiveness, being beautiful or handsome and the wish for being pretty and admirable, people more trend to aesthetic operations. This study was conducted descriptively in order to evaluate the body image of the inpatients of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic in preoperative period. This study was conducted in Gazi University Hospital, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department. The sample group consisted of 200 patients. Data was collected with the help of questionnaire and Body Image Scale. From the patients enrolled in the study 42.5% were in 15-24 age group, 70% of them were women, 61% of them were at least high school graduate, income of the 70% of the patients was enough for their expenditures and 50% of them were operated for aesthetic purposes.
