This study was found appropriate by the decision of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Health Sciences Ethics Committee dated July 1, 2024 and numbered 06-768. The data was collected with a personal information form and a questionnaire containing the awareness scale for the sports activities of individuals with mental disabilities from a total of 200 students, including 118 females and 82 males, studying at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. In the analysis of the data, frequency and percentage analyses were used to present the descriptive characteristics of the students participating in the research, and mean and standard deviation statistics were employed to analyze the scale. Kurtosis and Skewness values were examined to find out whether the research variables showed a normal distribution. Independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and post-hoc (Tukey, LSD) analyses were used to evaluate the differences between participants’ scale scores according to their descriptive characteristics. The findings obtained at the end of the study showed that the total ASTESMDI score of female participants was statistically significantly higher than that of males (p <0.05). When the ASTESMDI scores of the participants were examined according to age, department, active engagement in sports, having an acquaintance with someone with disabilities, and doing sports with individuals with disabilities, no statistically significant difference was detected (p>0.05). In conclusion, participants had high levels of awareness based on their mean ASTESMDI total score.}, number={1}, publisher={Mus Alparslan University}
