AB  - Umberto Eco’nun edebi ve teorik çalışmaları, kültür, tarih, bellek ve anlatı arasındaki karmaşık ilişkileri çözümlemek üzerine kurulu derin bir disiplinlerarası yaklaşımı ortaya koyar. Postmodern edebiyatın önde gelen isimlerinden biri olan Eco, özellikle Kraliçe Loana’nın Gizemli Alevi romanında, bireysel ve kolektif belleğin kurgusal bir anlatı çerçevesinde nasıl yeniden inşa edildiğini sorgular. Bu çalışma, romanın merkezine yerleşmiş olan görsel unsurların, belleğin harekete geçirilmesi ve yeniden yapılandırılması sürecindeki etkisini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Romanın ana karakteri Yambo’nun yaşadığı bireysel bellek yitimi, eserde yer alan resimler, afişler, dergi kapakları ve diğer görsel materyaller aracılığıyla yeniden inşa edilmeye çalışılır. Eco, bu görsel unsurları bir yandan nostalji, kimlik ve kültürel bellek gibi kavramların kurgusal temsili için birer araç olarak kullanırken, diğer yandan bellek çalışmalarına dair teorik tartışmaların edebi bir metin içinde sorgulanmasını mümkün kılar. Romanın çok katmanlı yapısı, okura hem bireysel hem de kolektif belleğin imgeler aracılığıyla nasıl işlediğine dair düşünme fırsatı sunar. Görsel unsurların roman kurgusundaki bu kritik rolü, edebiyat ile belleğin ilişkisini yeniden anlamlandırmak için fırsat sağlar.

N2  - Umberto Eco’s literary and theoretical works present a profound interdisciplinary approach to unraveling the complex relationships between culture, history, memory, and narrative. As one of the leading figures of postmodern literature, Eco particularly examines how individual and collective memory are reconstructed within a fictional framework in his novel The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. This study aims to analyze the impact of visual elements at the heart of the novel on the activation and reconstruction of memory. The protagonist, Yambo, experiences individual memory loss, which is gradually reconstructed through images, posters, magazine covers, and other visual materials featured in the narrative. Eco employs these visual elements not only as tools for representing concepts such as nostalgia, identity, and cultural memory but also as a means of integrating theoretical discussions on memory studies within a literary text. The novel’s multilayered structure offers readers an opportunity to reflect on how both individual and collective memory operate through images. The critical role of visual elements in the narrative provides a unique lens to reinterpret the relationship between literature and memory.
