Authentic leaders influence their followers and ensure that they identify with the organization. The purpose of this research is to reveal the mediating role of organizational identification in the effect of authentic leadership on social sustainability in the service sector. In the research, a face-to-face survey was conducted with 401 participants determined by the convenience sampling method, which is one of the non-random methods. The obtained data was analyzed with the SPSS method. At the end of the analysis, there is a weakly significant relationship between authentic leadership and social sustainability. There is a moderately positive and significant relationship between organizational identification and social sustainability. Authentic leadership and organizational identification positively affect social sustainability. Organizational identification has a full mediating role in the effect of authentic leadership on social sustainability. The sample consists only of service sector employees living in Istanbul. While the authentic leadership approach can have positive effects on social sustainability, organizational identification also plays an important role in this process. Although these issues are researched in a different way, there are limited publications on these variables.
