KW - gruplararası temas KW - sosyal kimlik yaklaşımı KW - sosyal değişim N2 - Intergroup contact has been recognized in numerous studies as an effective mechanism for reducing prejudice and eliminating discriminatory behaviors. However, it has also been criticized as a barrier and delay mechanism in the participation of disadvantaged group members in collective action and social change. This review will primarily introduce Intergroup Contact Theory and the Social Identity Approach’s predictions regarding social change. Subsequently, the impacts of different types of intergroup contact experienced by disadvantaged group members with advantaged group members on socio-structural factors and identity management strategies will be discussed, along with the connections to participation in collective action and intentions for social change. In this context, the review will explore how different types of intergroup contact, guided by the predictions of the Social Identity Approach, affect socio-structural factors and identity management strategies, ultimately shaping the social change intentions of disadvantaged group members.
