AB  - COVID-19 Aşılarına Küresel Erişim (COVAX) girişimi, 2020’de tüm ülkelerin COVID-19 aşılarına adil şekilde ulaşmasını sağlama hedefiyle başlatıldı. Ancak, yüksek beklentilere rağmen girişim hedeflerini tam olarak karşılayamadı ve bu durum eleştirilere yol açtı. Bu makale, COVAX’ın finansman eksiklikleri, tedarik zincirindeki aksamalar, aşı milliyetçiliği ve jeopolitik rekabetler gibi temel sorunlarını analiz ederek başarısızlığın nedenlerini irdeliyor. Ayrıca, bu faktörlerin küresel sağlık eşitsizliğini nasıl derinleştirdiğini ve gelecekteki pandemi hazırlık planları için alınması gereken dersleri vurguluyor. COVAX’ın deneyimi, uluslararası iş birliğinin zayıflıklarını ortaya çıkarmakla birlikte, kriz yönetimi ve kaynak dağılımında daha etkin mekanizmaların gerekliliğine işaret ediyor. Makale, girişimin küresel sağlık yönetişimini güçlendirme potansiyelini kabul ederek, gelecekteki salgınlarda savunmasız toplumların aşılara erişimini garanti altına alacak politikaların önemini savunuyor. Sonuç olarak, COVAX’ın yaşadığı zorluklar, adil bir küresel sağlık sisteminin inşası için yol gösterici nitelik taşıyor.

N2  - The COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) initiative was launched in 2020 with the aim of ensuring that all countries have equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. However, despite high expectations, the initiative has failed to fully meet its goals, leading to criticism. The study examines the reasons for the failure by analyzing the underlying problems of COVAX, such as funding shortfalls, supply chain disruptions, vaccine nationalism, and geopolitical rivalries. It also highlights how these factors have deepened global health inequalities and the lessons to be learned for future pandemic preparedness plans. While COVAX’s experience reveals the weaknesses of international cooperation, it also points to the need for more effective mechanisms for crisis management and resource allocation. The article recognizes the initiative’s potential to strengthen global health governance and argues for the importance of policies that ensure access to vaccines for vulnerable populations in future pandemics. Ultimately, COVAX’s challenges provide guidance for building an equitable global health system.
