It is projected that the negative effects of carbon footprints on climate change and human health will continue in the future unless necessary measures are taken. Although it varies depending on countries' levels of development, the healthcare sector contributes negatively to total greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for approximately 2% to 7%. If appropriate actions are not implemented, emissions originating from the healthcare sector are expected to triple by 2050. In addition to providing quality services to patients, healthcare facilities must also play a leading role in ensuring environmental safety in accordance with the green concept. The emergence of environmentally friendly hospitals (green hospitals) contributes to reducing the environmental impacts threatening the healthcare sector and offers promising solutions for ensuring the sustainability of healthcare services. Green hospitals offer not only environmental, economic, health, and safety advantages, but also improve patient satisfaction, enhance employee productivity, and deliver environmentally conscious healthcare services. By complying with climate change-related regulations, green healthcare facilities reduce carbon emissions and other negative environmental impacts. In this context, it is recommended that countries equip and transform their healthcare facilities in alignment with green healthcare policies. CR - Akdağ, H. C., & T. Beldek. (2019).
