TY - JOUR T1 - ECONOMIC GROWTH IN A GENDER-RESPONSIVE WAY: AN INVESTIGATION FOR COUNTRY GROUPS BASED ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX TT - TOPLUMSAL CİNSİYETE DUYARLI EKONOMİK BÜYÜME: İNSANİ GELİŞME ENDEKSİNE DAYALI ÜLKE GRUPLARINA YÖNELİK BİR ARAŞTIRMA AU - Yeşilkaya, Fatma PY - 2025 DA - November Y2 - 2025 JF - Ege Academic Review JO - eab PB - Ege University WT - DergiPark SN - 1303-099X SP - 63 EP - 82 VL - 26 IS - 1 LA - en AB - The impact of gender norms on the national economy is an area that has been overlooked in extant literature. Since there has been a paucity of evaluation of gender and gender equality from an economic growth perspective, compared to the extensive literature on gender and gender equality, this study investigates gender-responsive economic growth within the framework of the classification created within the scope of the human development index. The study analyses the relationship between human development and gender-related indices at four different levels of development. The relationship is analyzed using a panel data analysis method with data from 1995-2021. The study finds that the variables that increase economic growth in the four country groups are the gender-related development index and labor force participation rate. In contrast, the gender inequality index decreases economic growth in almost every country. The present study's findings indicate a relationship between gender-related index (i.e., independent variables) and economic growth. It is suggested that advances in gender equality are a prerequisite for attaining systematic economic growth. KW - gender development index KW - gender inequality index KW - economic growth KW - panel data analysis N2 - Toplumsal cinsiyet normlarının ülke ekonomisi açısından yarattığı etki literatürde tartışılması gereken alanlardan biridir. Toplumsal cinsiyet ve cinsiyet eşitliğine ilişkin yaygın literatüre kıyasla ekonomik büyüme perspektifinden yeterince değerlendirilmemesi sebebiyle çalışmada toplumsal cinsiyete duyarlı ekonomik büyüme insani gelişmişlik endeksi kapsamında oluşturulan sınıflandırma çerçevesinde araştırılmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında dört ayrı gelişmişlik düzeyinde insani gelişme ile toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı endeksler arasındaki ilişki incelenmektedir. Belirlenen ilişki 1995-2021 yılına ait verilerle panel veri analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Dört ülke grubunda ekonomik büyümeyi artıran değişkenlerin cinsiyete dayalı kalkınma endeksi ve işgücüne katılım oranı olduğu görülmektedir. Bunun yanında cinsiyet eşitsizliği endeksi hemen her ülke grubunda ekonomik büyümeyi azaltmaktadır.
