The research was conducted between June and November 2024. A total of 138 patients who met the inclusion criteria participated in the study. Data were collected using a Patient Information Form and Discharge Education Satisfaction Scale. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and correlation tests were used in the data analysis. Significance was evaluated at a p <0.05 level. The average total score of the patients on the scale was determined to be 95.74±10.84, indicating very high levels of satisfaction. It was found that 58.8% of the patients received discharge education from a physician, 62% conducted individual research after discharge, and 49.3% used the internet and social media for this research. The status of being a healthcare worker was identified as the only significant variable affecting the satisfaction levels (p <0.05). No significant effect was found for other variables on the scale scores (p>0.05). The study demonstrates that surgical patients are highly satisfied with discharge education, and that being a healthcare worker is an important factor influencing this satisfaction. It was observed that patients frequently use the internet and social media platforms in their post-discharge information-seeking behavior. It is recommended to implement individualized discharge education programs, provide reliable health information sources on digital platforms, supply discharge education materials in both written and visual formats to patients, and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of discharge education programs.}, number={2}, publisher={Sinop University}
