AB  - Bu araştırma; hemşirelerin yaşlı ayrımcılığına ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla planlanmıştır. planlanmıştır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan fenomenolojik desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini 8 hemşire oluşturmuş ve odak grup görüşmesi yapılmıştır. Araştırmada örneklem seçim kriterlerine gidilmemiş olup çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden ve çalışmanın yapıldığı tarihler arasında izinli, raporlu olmayan hemşireler araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Görüşmeler katılımcıların izinleri dâhilinde ses kayıt cihazı ile kayıt altına alınmış ve yazılı olarak kaydedilmiştir. Odak grup görüşmesi ortalama 60 dk uzunluğundadır. Verilerin toplanmasında, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Hemşire tanıtım formu hemşirelerin yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durumu, eğitim durumu, gelir durumu, çalışma yılı, çalışılan birim, çalışma şekli ve çalışma süresine ilişkin bilgileri içermektedir.  Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formunda hemşirelere yedi adet açık uçlu görüşme sorusu yöneltilmiş, veri analizinde, tematik analiz kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 8 hemşire katılmıştır. Katılan hemşirelerin 8’i de kadındır. Hemşirelerin yaşları 23-36 arasında olup çalışma süreleri 2-10 yıl arasında değişmektedir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgular “Yaşlılık Algıları”, “Yaşlı Ayrımcılığına İlişkin Düşünceler” ve “Yaşlı Hastalara Yönelik Bakım Algıları” olmak üzere üç ana tema altında gruplandırılmıştır. Bulgular kısmında doğrudan alıntılara yer verilmiştir.  Çalışma sonucunda hemşirelerin yaşlı hastalara yönelik algılarının genel olarak olumlu olduğu ve çoğunun yaşa dayalı ayrımcı tutum sergilemediği saptanmıştır. Hemşirelerin yaşlı hastalara daha iyi bakım verebilmeleri için hizmet içi eğitimlerin verilmesi önem taşımaktadır. Bu nedenle yaşlı hastaların mevcut ekonomik ve sosyal sorunlarının çözümünde sağlık hizmetleriyle ilgili karar vericilerin ve yetkililerin iyi planlama yapması ve uygun politikaların geliştirilmesi gerekmektedir.

N2  - This study was designed to explore nurses' perspectives on ageism. A phenomenological design, which is one of the qualitative research methodologies, was employed. The sample of the study consisted of 8 nurses, and a focus group interview was conducted. No specific sampling criteria were applied; instead, nurses who agreed to participate and who were neither on leave nor on medical report during the study period were included in the research. With the participants’ consent, the interviews were audio-recorded and subsequently transcribed verbatim. Each session lasted approximately 60 minutes. A semi-structured interview form was employed for data collection. The Nurse Information Form gathered demographic and professional data, including age, gender, marital status, educational background, income level, years of professional experience, current unit, work schedule, and duration of employment. The semi-structured interview included seven open-ended questions. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. All eight participating nurses were female, aged between 23 and 36, with professional experience ranging from 2 to 10 years. The findings were categorized under three main themes: “Perceptions of Aging,” “Views on Ageism,” and “Perceptions of Care for Elderly Patients.” Direct quotations were included to support the findings. The study con-cluded that nurses generally held positive perceptions toward elderly patients and that most did not exhibit age-based discriminatory attitudes. Providing in-service training is essential to enhance the quality of care delivered to elderly patients. Therefore, it is imperative for healthcare policymakers and authorities to implement well-structured planning and develop effective policies to address the existing economic and social challenges faced by the elderly population.
