AB  - Yaşlanma, prenatal dönemden başlayarak yaşamının sonuna kadar devam eden bir süreçtir. Yaşlılık ise, bu sürecin belirli bir dönemini tanımlar ve genellikle bireyin fiziksel ve zihinsel fonksiyonlarında belirgin gerilemenin gözlemlendiği zaman dilimini ifade eder. Modernitenin etkisiyle şekillenen yaşam tarzı, sağlık alanındaki yenilikler, düzenli ve sağlıklı yaşam pratiklerinin gündelik hayatın bir parçası haline dönüşmesi; ortalama yaşam süresinin uzamasına neden olmuş ve demografik yapılarda yaşlanma gerçekleşmiştir. Demografik yaşlanmayla yaşlılık sosyal bir olgu, sorunları ise toplumsal bir problem görünümü ortaya çıkarmıştır. Sosyal görünüm bir toplumun, bir olguya karşı değer, inanç, tutum ve norm gibi düşsel ve duygusal eğilimlerini yansıtır. Sosyal görünümün tespiti yaşlı bireyin kendisini nasıl gördüğünü ve başkalarının onu nasıl algıladığını sosyolojik olarak anlamlandırılması sağlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma, yaşlı bireyin toplum içerisindeki durumunu, sosyal konumunu, yaşlıya bakış açısını ve kendilerini nasıl gördüklerini analiz etmeyi ve bu bağlamda yaşlıya karşı etik gündemlerin geliştirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sorunsalının ve sosyal görüngüsünün toplumsal inşasını analiz edebilmek için farklı sosyo-demografik özelliklere sahip kişilerle görüşülmüş ve elde edilen veriler parçalara ayrılarak çözümlenmiştir. Parçalara ayrılan veriler kodlanmış ve birbirleri ile bağlantılı kodlar bir araya toplanarak temalar oluşturulmuştur. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, yaşlılığın toplumsal yörüngeleri analiz edilmeye ve yaşlılık sosyoloji bağlamda değerlendirmeye çalışılmıştır.

N2  - Aging is a process that starts in the prenatal period and continues until the end of life. Old age, on the other hand, defines a specific period of this process and generally refers to a period of time in which significant decline is observed in the physical and mental functions of the individual. Lifestyles shaped by the impact of modernity, innovations in the field of health, and the transformation of regular and healthy living practices into a part of daily life have led to an increase in life expectancy and aging in demographic structures. With demographic aging, old age has emerged as a social phenomenon and its problems as a social problem. Social outlook reflects the imaginary and emotional tendencies of a society such as values, beliefs, attitudes and norms towards a phenomenon. The determination of social appearance provides a sociological understanding of how the elderly person sees himself/herself and how others perceive him/her. In this context, the study aims to analyze the situation of the elderly in society, their social position, their perspective on the elderly and how they see themselves, and to develop ethical agendas towards the elderly in this context. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. In order to analyze the social construction of the problematic and social phenomenon of the research, people with different socio-demographic characteristics were interviewed and the data obtained were analyzed in parts. The fragmented data were coded and themes were formed by gathering the related codes together. In this context, the study tried to analyze the social trajectories of old age and evaluate old age in the context of sociology.
