AB  - This study retrospectively analyzes 148 cases of uterine myoma diagnosed and treated with total hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology between 1960 and 1972. Histopathological evaluations of endometrial and ovarian tissues were performed to assess the role of estrogen in the etiology of uterine myomas. The majority of cases demonstrated endometrial hyperplasia and follicular cysts or degenerative changes in the ovaries. These findings support the theory that hormonal imbalance, particularly hyperestrogenism, plays a significant role in the development of myomas. However, the presence of myomas in some hormonally normal cases suggests that multiple etiological factors may be involved.

N2  - Bu çalışmada, Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Kliniği’nde 1960–1972 yılları arasında uterus myomu tanısı alarak total histerektomi ve salpingo-ooferektomi uygulanan 148 olgu incelenmiştir. Endometriyum ve over dokularının histopatolojik değerlendirilmesi ile östrojen hormonunun myom etiyolojisindeki rolü araştırılmıştır. Vakaların büyük çoğunluğunda endometrial hiperplazi ve overde follikül kisti veya kistik dejenerasyon tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgular uterus myomlarının gelişiminde hormonal dengesizlik, özellikle de hiperöstrinizmin önemli rol oynadığını desteklemektedir. Bununla birlikte, bazı vakalarda hormonal bulgular olmadan da myom saptanması, etyolojide birden fazla faktörün etkili olabileceğini düşündürmektedir.
