Using canine models, the progression from hypovolemic to irreversible shock was assessed through cardiovascular responses to sympathomimetic vasopressors (Novadral) and atropine. In the irreversible phase, no tachycardia or significant blood pressure increase could be induced by these agents. Even after blood reinfusion, achieving normovolemia and normotension, cardiovascular depression persisted. Electrocardiogram abnormalities and pulse trace disruptions indicated myocardial damage and arteriolar paralysis. The findings emphasize that intravenous fluid therapy in irreversible shock should be guided by central venous pressure rather than arterial pressure.}, number={5-6}, publisher={Ankara University}
