AB  - Refleksif ve eleştirel yaklaşımların antropolojideki öncülerinden biri olan Bob Scholte, araştırmacının konumlanışını ve yöntemini refleksif biçimde sorgulamasının bilimsel sürecin ayrılmaz bir parçası olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. Ona göre antropoloji yalnızca ampirik verilerin toplanmasına adanmış bir disiplin değil, aynı zamanda siyasi ve ideolojik bağlamlar tarafından derinden koşullanan bir pratiktir. 1960’ların sonu ve 1970’lerin başındaki küresel toplumsal hareketler -savaş karşıtı protestolar, öğrenci gösterileri ve karşı kültür akımları- araştırmacıların çalışmalarının sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel koşullarını eleştirel biçimde incelemeye yönelmelerini sağlayan entelektüel bir ortam yaratmıştır. Bu bağlamda Scholte’nin 1969 tarihli Toward a Reflexive and Critical Anthropology başlıklı makalesi, araştırmacının öznel duruşunu, değerlerini ve metodolojik tercihlerini dikkate almanın gerekliliğini vurgulayan en erken katkılardan birini oluşturmaktadır. Bu perspektif, halk edebiyatı çalışmalarına kuramsal bir temel sunmakta; araştırmacıları kültürel önyargıları fark etmeye, derleme sürecindeki iktidar dinamiklerini hesaba katmaya ve anlatıların üretildiği daha geniş toplumsal bağlamları analiz etmeye teşvik etmektedir. Dolayısıyla refleksivite, yalnızca metin çözümlemelerinde değil; performans, jestler, izleyici katılımı ve sözlü geleneklerin dijital yeniden üretimi gibi alanlarda da metodolojik sorgulamayı derinleştirmektedir. Bu makale, Scholte’nin refleksif ve eleştirel antropolojisini Türk halk edebiyatı bağlamında yeniden yorumlamayı, çağdaş halkbilimi araştırmaları için geçerliliğini ve uygulanabilirliğini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır.

N2  - Bob Scholte, as one of the pioneers of reflexive and critical approaches in anthropology, emphasized that the researcher’s reflexive questioning of positionality and methodology is an integral part of the scientific process. He argued that anthropology is not only a discipline devoted to the collection of empirical data but also a practice deeply conditioned by political and ideological contexts. The global social movements of the late 1960s and early 1970s- anti-war protests, student demonstrations, and countercultural currents- created an intellectual environment that prompted scholars to critically examine the social, economic, and cultural conditions of their research. In this context, Scholte’s seminal article Toward a Reflexive and Critical Anthropology (1969) constitutes one of the earliest contributions to highlight the necessity of considering the researcher’s subjective stance, values, and methodological choices. This perspective provides a theoretical foundation for folk literature studies, encouraging scholars to acknowledge cultural biases, account for power dynamics within the collection process, and analyze the broader social contexts in which narratives are produced. Reflexivity, therefore, deepens methodological inquiry not only in textual analysis but also in fieldwork practices, including performance, gestures, audience participation, and the digital reproduction of oral traditions. This article aims to reinterpret Scholte’s reflexive and critical anthropology within the framework of Turkish folk literature, demonstrating its relevance and applicability to contemporary folklore research.
