The relations between the EU and the US are vigorous and are rooted in centuries of shared economic and political heritage. In this article, trade relations between the EU and the US after the Second World War are examined. Besides the trade data between the parties, the investment data are also evaluated to provide insight into the magnitude of the transatlantic marketplace. The aim of the paper is to inquire whether the newly-initiated Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership pledges new dimensions and expansions to the existing relations or just a new sight to the status quo.
