AB  - Between 1975-1976, 56 fractures of the Tibia in 54 patients were treated by means of patellar tendon bearing cast (PTB-Cast) at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Ankara School of Medicine. The average union time is 15.5 weeks in, this serie. Although we have observed delayed union in one patient, enough callus was seen im the 7 th month as the cast immobilization continued. We have been using this method because of having free range of knee motion, without rnuscie atrophy, and early union as it is compared to other treatment methods for the fracture of the tibia.
N2  - Kliniğimizde 56 tibia kırığı 1975-1976 yılları arasında PTB alçısı ile tedavi edilmiştir. Vakalanmız arasında ortalama kaynama süresi 15.5 haftadır. Yalnız bir vakada kaynama gecikmesi olmasına rağmen tesbite devam edildiğinde 7. ayda tam olarak kallüs meydana gelmiştir. Adale atrofisinin olmaması, diz hareketlerinde sınırlılığın olmaması, diğer tedavi metodlarına nazaran kaynamanın daha erken sürede olması bakımından faydalı bir metod olarak kliniğimizde uygulanmaktadır.
