N2  - This study examines the fishery industry in Gökçeada Island, organizational structures among fishers, and the socio-economic statuses of fishers who are members of the cooperative. Both fishers based in the island and fishers from the vicinity of the island fish in the waters surrounding the island. This study was conducted with the participation of fishers who are residents of the island and who are members of the seafood cooperative on the island. A survey was conducted among fishers who own boats and who are members of the “S.S. Kaleköy, Uğurlu and Yeni Bademli Fishery Cooperatives”. Results show that boat lengths varied between 5.00-12.00 meters, and all boats were with motor. Fishers were aged between 28 and 63, all were literate, 54.2% had elementary education, 29.2% had high school education, and 16.7% were college graduates. Most fishers, 38.4%, had 11-20 years of professional experience. For 54.2% of the fishers, fishing was the only source of income, whereas 45.8% had other sources of income as well. 62.5% of the fishers had health insurance and 91.7% were home owners. In conclusion, fishers had a number of problems arising from island conditions. It was found that they were not able to go fishing when the weather was bad, and they had difficulties in marketing the fish they caught
