N2  - The purpose of the present study is to determine the teachers’ attitudes towards alternative assessment methods, their perceptions of their competency in implementing these alternative methods and frequency of their application in this way, to determine the general competency level of the teachers. The study was used survey method. The sampling of the study consists of 40 teachers from four elementary school in a city in 2010-2011 school year. As such, data collection survey was administered to 4th and 5th grade classroom teachers and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade subject teachers. In the study “teacher competency” questionnaire developed by Banoğlu (2009) was used as a data collection tool. The data of the study were analyzed through "SPSS for Windows 15.0" program package.In the general results of this study, the teachers have a “medium” level self-efficacy of alternative assessment methods
