N2  - In this study, it was aimed that comparing the effects of traditional laboratory activities and virtual laboratory implementations on student achievement regarding “Light and Sound” Unit in 5th grade. For this research, quasi-experimental design of pre-test and post-test are applied. The study was conducted with total 54 students from two classes at a secondary school in Adiyaman center during the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic years. One of the classes assigned randomly as experimental group carried out virtual laboratory activities (simulation) provided by EBA database and the other as a control group of traditional laboratory activities were carried out. The data were collected by “Light and Sound Unit Achievement test”. At the end of the application, data collected from pre- and post-tests were analyzed through quantitative statistics using SPSS 15.0 software. At the end of the study it was seen that there was a significant progress on the success of the students both the instruction in virtual laboratory and traditional laboratory implementations. On the other hand, it was found a significant difference between post-test mean scores of the groups in favor of experimental group
