Formal intertextuality is seen when a composer directly takes the distinctive feature of a work without relating it to another work in that style. A work of art with formal intertextuality gains more meaning when it intentionally refers to certain former work(s). This process of production has many techniques such as quotation, take structural models and diversification. The aim of intertextual analysis in study is the fact that formal references reveal many ways of contributing to the meanings of the new work of art. In this respect, samples have been investigated in this study with the aim of identifying the extent to which intertextuality may enrich a musical work. It has been concluded that the songs formed by using the intertextual methods present a multilayered structure by linking the past to the present. The findings of the analysis, investigated through the method of content analysis, have been examined in the context of the notions of ‘intertextuality’ and ‘reproduction’. The works of music investigated within the framework of these notions reveal a process of transaction of intermusicality. CR - ADAİR, G. (1994), “Postmodernci Kapıyı İki Kere Çalar”, Çev.
