N2  - The raising of silking and silken textile industry is a traditional art, reflecting itself from past to present. The raising of silking became an occupation, dependent on the provision of personal neccessities due to the geogrophical position and the socio-economic structure of Muğla. In this study, not only the reflection of the view of the raising of silking and silken textile industry in Muğla are examined from the time of Ottoman Empire to the first years of the Republic but also how they are affected as a result of the socio-economic changes and devolopments after the years in 1950’s.
