N2  - Rābiʿah al-ʻAdawiyya lived in Basra as a Muslim sufi whereas Teresaof Avila lived in the west as a Christian mystic. They bothbrought some perspectives in mystical culture of which the priorityis spiritual life. The love of God, ascetic life and being indifferentto the world were the most important of them all. Undoubtedly,there were matched and different views in their systematicthought which they constituted in the line of their religions. Howeverthey both believed consequently in the necessity of beingwith God and to endeavor to reach this purpose. Both Rābiʿah andTeresa have been admitted as model figures and their mysticthought have been followed by their coreligionists for centuries.They both preferred living as virgin and always gained acceptanceas saint in their age. Though Rābiʿah gave importance to the practicesof the discipline, Teresa came out with her theoretical opinions.
