When recent studies carried outin our country are looked into, it appears that no study has been done in Turkey about thedifficulties that the secondary school teachers, who presently work or who are planning towork, face in comprehending the main concepts of quantum physics.In this study, the misconceptions that senior students of physics in Hacettepe and GaziUniversities have about quantum physics, which is the basis of modern physics, has beenlooked into. The result of this examination reveals that instead of the modern QuantumPhysics which has its own way of thought, prospective teachers refer to the classicalmethods of Newton Physics even at the last stage of their education. In other words,quantum physics, the world of atoms, is stili being explained by the traditional analogiesand concepts. From this study, similar results have been obtained from studies made inGermany with similar groups.
