N2  - It is often emphasized that Yaşar Kemal utilizes oral literature tradition while writing his novels. Indeed, the narrator of Yaşar Kemal usually imitates a folk narrator; he adopts a position that almost holds no distance to the characters as he is one of them. He often appeals to folk expressions and sometimes represents an anonymous chorus of a village. But there are moments in which we recognize that the voice we hear comes from a modern narrator that emerges from a novelist’s imagination. In this article, based on the text “Köroğlu’nun Ortaya Çıkışı”, not similar but different aspects of Yaşar Kemal’s novels compared to folk narratives are explored and the narration which Yaşar Kemal originally develops is shown. While doing this, the article will look into the components that the writer adds and removes, the “details” that are not usually found in oral expression but emerge in written expression, and the faults that emerge in the combination of oral tradition and the author’s original style.
