N2 - The aim of this study is to develop a "source work" for determining 12-14 years students' views directed towards historical evidence and to discuss children's' participation in this process. Accordingly, first of all opinions about what historical thinking is and how historical thinking can be evaluated will be discussed, then basic approaches to children's' role in developing historical thinking scales will be evaluated. In this context, 12-14 years students' participation for this process will be explained with examples. In this way, the importance of undertaking active roles in research process by children's whom have been a subject of educational researches up to now will be debated.
