Simply meaning as a search for employment possibilities, job search can be defined as “a purposive, volitional pattern of action that begins with the identification and commitment to pursuing an employment goal” in psychological terms. Not only the growing competition between companies, but also the competition among work force and significantly high percentages of unemployment put pressure on individuals who seek suitable jobs. Under these circumstances, understanding the psycho-social process behind job search, leading job seekers to well-directed job search behaviours and helping these individuals by enhancing the motivation for job finding have been increasingly crucial. In order to understand the psycho-social process, this study, which benefits from literature review and presents an integrative model, is a considered as a contribution to the work psychology literature in Turkey besides being helpful to the consultants working in the field of job search.
