N2  - Agriculture, animal husbandry and tourism activities are the mainstays of Gökçeada (Imbros) each of which requires adaptation of local community to natural, environmental and historic fabric in order to contribute to economic development. This study explored the contribution capacity of the demographic structure- has been transformed by planned migrations, to local advantages of the island by means of unstructured deep interviews of qualitative analysis. Within this framework, it is aimed to observe the effects of planned migration on development capacity of the island and the perceptions of the local community on this issue, in accordance with the endogenous development approach.
