The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting thesuccess of the students in the college of agriculture, Ataturk University. To this end, 743 students (70% of thetotal) were interviewed in 2004-2005 education year. The data were tested using X independency test. Inaddition, analysis of the factors affecting the success of the students was conducted using Ordered Probit Model.Average grade was taken into consideration as an indicator for the success of student to determine the factorsaffecting the success and their significances. According to the results, significant positive relations were foundbetween student success and departments, sex, marital status, OSS record, high school grade point average, studyconditions and attendance while significant but negative relations were determined between success and age,class, accommodation and type of high schools graduated. Accordingly, it was suggested that students with highOSS score must be supported and encouraged to enroll to the colleges of agriculture CR - Ceylan, C., 2007.
