N2  - As in the whole world and especially in the countries developing, rural development is also proceeding to be asignificant subject in Turkey where the majority of its population live in rural regions and where that population isless developed in comparison with the city.The development of rural areas is closely related to politics aiming to remove the interregional economic, socialand cultural development differences. In this sense, with the politics towards rural areas in Turkey, it is aimed toreduce the development difference among regions and to provide a national integration by developing The Eastand SoutheasternAnatolia Regions in the first instance and the privileged areas in development.In this sense, the works that are devoted to the improvement of rural regions have been on the agenda since itsfoundation. The GAP which is carried out in one of the less developed regions of Turkey, The SoutheasternAnatolia comes up as the foremost extensive effort in this aspect.In our study; the place, importance of GAP and the required preventions to get the most benefit from the GAP aredebated in terms of rural development politics which are applied in Turkey
