N2  - The aim of this study is to determine the methods which the teachers employ in conducting the history units of primary school sixth class social studies course and to detect the reasons of being unable to conduct varieties in methods. The study is a descriptive one. In the scope of this survey, the questionnaire developed by the researcher was conducted. Sampling was performed in Çankaya, Keçiören and Yenimahalle districts, via random sampling. 86 teachers and 290 students responded the questionnaire. In the demographical information of the students frequency and percentage were employed and t-test was implemented to see if there is a difference between the views of the teachers and the students. The .05 level was designed as the criterion for the significance. In the ligth of the result of the study, it was found out that teachers of history mostly employed answer and question method and they focused on certain instruction methods.
