N2  - The institution of family forms the backbone of a nation. Certain rules and guidelines have been followed in the establishment of the family institution from past to present. Generally, these rules are composed of the values adopted by a majority of the society. However, marriage through eloping with a girl, which is regarded with disapproval even today has survived as a social reality from past to present. In this article, reflections of eloping with a girl, which is one of the types of marriage, in our culture will be dealt with and especially its use as a theme in village entertainment dramas will be dwelt upon.
